BOOK REVIEWED BY AKHILA SAROHA (India's Top 10  Book Reviewer)

A story with a detailed narration as well as explanation demonstrating and justifying not only the happening of events but connecting them to the cycle of life is likely to do justice to not only the text but also to its purpose. On the whole, “Shree’s Varah” by Sandhya S Borkar is one such tale which features events, thoughts, boomerang effect of destiny and the role of God in bringing peace in people’s lives. At the same time, this thought also resonates with the fact that it is people’s choices that define their destiny and the course that their life will eventually take. Through this depiction, the author constructs a tale that spans over more than a decade but is captured in less than 200 pages. Simultaneously, the author also packs the book with numerous thoughts, messages and morals that can also become the guiding light for the many who would be reading it.
An interesting thought that remains in “Shree’s Varah” by Sandhya S Borkar is the effect of how our deeds and actions of one life get their due in the same life, even if it takes time to happen. What begins with the fun and merriment of the festival that celebrates the arrival of God, Shree on earth for some days after every 12 years also translates into destiny pulling the strings through the people present and absent. Amidst this, what remains intact is the people’s faith in God and his ways to make things happen even though it may be a little later. On this broad canvas, Borkar constructs a story that features multiple families and characters that find mention here and their due to their actions or misdeeds which have a domino effect on the lives of their near and dear ones.

Apart from this, the author mirrors societal behaviors of outcasting the week and discriminating, while at the same time, the same society can change its colors when time sways the wind in the other direction. Characters like Radhika and Sheetal suffer at the hands of society and silently fight their battles. The author however, successfully highlights the effects of resilience and never say die attitude and the heights to which these two tools can take a person. The eventual success of Radhika is a testimony to this.
Other characters in “Shree’s Varah” make equally significant contributions, but Radhika and Sheetal are the ones who stand tall from the beginning to the end while also showing how destiny can have a pivotal role in shaping their lives, in addition to the choices they made. “Shree’s Varah” by Sandhya S Borkar is one of the few books that has all elements to make it a recommended reading for all kinds of readers due to the richness of plot as well as the variety of characters who drive it to
