“Halfway Point: A Conversation” by Rummana A Sharvari B

BOOK REVIEWED BY AKHILA SAROHA (INDIA'S TOP 10)

When Virginia Woolf was writing Mrs. Dalloway, it was interesting to see how she used the stream of consciousness technique to look back into the lives of many characters through one character and reminisce all that has gone by and miss the good old times. As a reading of the present day, “Halfway Point: A Conversation” by Rummana A Sharvari B, while on the one hand, may remind of a similar style, but the mode to convey thoughts is distinctly unique and distinguishable.

“Halfway Point: A Conversation” takes a style that is conversational, candid, and true to reality as it exists and shows how life remains the same, but the perspective changes as people grow and mature with their years. In addition, the book delves into the struggles and challenges faced by the authors in their personal and professional lives, which makes it relatable to readers who may have gone through similar experiences. The book encourages readers to reflect on their own lives and consider the choices they have made and how they have impacted their journey so far. Moreover, the authors' reflections on their future plans and aspirations offer a positive outlook on life and the potential for growth and change.

Although on the surface “Halfway Point: A Conversation” may seem like a conversation between two women who discuss their kids and marriage and many other questions, on closer examination, the readers would understand that the women discuss the questions that mostly bother people as they are common and born from experiences that happen with everyone but seldom discussed. In this sense, "Halfway Point: A Conversation" is not just a book but a reflection of life as it is lived by many, and thus, it is relatable to a wide audience. The book addresses the questions and dilemmas that are often overlooked and brushed under the carpet but are crucial to our growth and evolution as human beings. The authors, Rummana A Sharvari B, do not shy away from addressing these topics and share their own experiences, mistakes, and insights, which makes the book even more engaging and insightful. It is a book that not only entertains but also informs and inspires the readers to introspect and reflect on their own lives.

It can also be noted that "Halfway Point: A Conversation" offers a unique insight into the lives of women in contemporary society and how they navigate the complexities of relationships, work, and family. It also shows the world through the eyes of women where they discuss life long after the happily ever after. The book provides a platform for women to share their experiences, concerns, and aspirations with each other and to find support and understanding in a world that often fails to recognize their struggles. In this way, the book can be seen as a celebration of women's voices and a reminder of the importance of empathy and compassion in our daily interactions. "Halfway Point: A Conversation" is a thought-provoking read that encourages readers to look back on their own lives and consider the path ahead.
